CMAC Dapo offers sparring and kickboxing for kids ages 8-12 and youth. Students will engage in fitness conditioning, pad and mitt work, sparring drills, and free sparring.
CMAC Dapo offers sparring and kickboxing classes for kids ages 8–12, youth and adults. Students will engage in fitness conditioning, pad and mitt work, sparring drills, and free sparring. Complete sparring gear and an assessment is required prior to admission. Kickboxing classes are offered 2 times weekly at CMAC Mississauga.
Kickboxing & Sparring Classes
Kickboxing / sparring classes are mandatory for karate students green belt and higher and are required in order to progress.
All classes are conducted by qualified instructors in a safe environment.
Please bring a water bottle, athletic clothing, and complete sparring gear to each class.
Sparring concepts tackled include—
- Sparring safety, hygiene, etiquette
- How to hold pads properly for your partner
- Distancing, timing, entering, evading
- Sabaki—Tai sabaki, ashi sabaki, te sabaki
Details for the Sparring/Kickboxing Program
Program: Kickboxing and sparring
Participants: Students usually start sparring class at green belt [1]. However, students who want to attend sparring are allowed to attend the sparring and kickboxing program before green belt.
Attendance: Once or twice per week
Ages: 8–12 · Teens/Youth · Adults
Experience: Minimum 3 months of karate training at CMAC Dapo within the last 4 months; or a minimum yellow belt
Pre-requisites: In-class assessment; approval from instructor; current training in karate program; plus full sparring gear
Gear / Uniforms: Full sparring gear
Schedule: Tuesdays 7–7:45pm · Thursdays 7-7:45pm
